Roadmaps to Health Action Awards partners attended the 2015 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Culture of Health Prize Celebration & Learning Event, which was held on October 28, 2015 in Princeton, New Jersey. The event provided opportunities to learn from and connect with leaders from other communities and organizations who are working to build a Culture of Health now and for generations to come, and are inspiring examples of the Foundation’s Culture of Health vision in action. Prior to the Prize event, Active Living By Design (ALBD) hosted a breakfast and networking meeting for Roadmaps to Health Action Awardees to spend focused time meeting and interacting with fellow Action Awardees and ALBD and Roadmaps to Health Action Center staff.

Welcome and Overview

Action Awardees were welcomed by hosts from RWJF, County Health Rankings & Roadmaps (CHR&R) and ALBD. Amy Slonim, Senior Program Officer with RWJF, spoke about the value of networking and the Action Awards as an important component of CHR&R.

This group activity provided an opportunity for Action Awardees to learn about each other and begin to identify common touchpoints for future networking activities.

Announcements about upcoming Roadmaps to Health Action Awards networking events to be hosted by ALBD were shared:

  • Action Awards virtual networking and learning collaborative sessions. The purpose of these virtual sessions is to provide ongoing opportunities for Action Awards team members to network with and learn from other communities and have access to resources. The first sessions were scheduled on November 18 and 19 and focused on the topic of data, measurement and evaluation, which was identified as being of high interest among Action Awardees.
  • Action Awards networking meeting: Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3, 2016 at The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC. The purpose of this meeting is to share successes, lessons learned and insights on how to accelerate action to achieve a Culture of Health, drawing from experiences of the Action Awardees.
